  hi!

it's been like nearly two months since i posted here, like whoa.

um so i am studying fashion at UTS...it did my head in for a while, a long while! a think it's only in the last week or so i feel comfortable saying i'm a fashion student as opposed to an ex-marketer. such is adjusting to the massive change i guess.

UTS is amazing, in my second or third week i met a woman who worked side-by-side with Vivienne Westwood for 20-odd years and developed two diffusion lines for her(!) then i got to ask her questions and look at some of the Westwood couture she brought with her - Absolut Heaven. does it get any better??? the teachers are awesome and while we are only just now getting to do some actual design, it's pretty amazing to be there and i'm learning so much.

i recently got a job in fashion retail which is excellent because i never have worked in this field before and feel it is important to learn this side of the biz. it's with a reputable international company so they are setting me a pretty good example. the staff are nice too, and i'm feeling so much better now that i have a job, a lot more secure (ie. homelessness avoided - yey!)

anyway i could ramble on, but won't (to keep the mystery...oooh!)

i will leave you with photos taken at The Bank celebrating the lovely Danica's birthday - ordered by level of sobriety

i really proud that Australia has said sorry for past government policy which separated Aboriginal children from their mothers

of the Australians who campaigned for this fiercely and for so long despite the resistance of the previous government to address this issue
of the people who voted for a government who would say sorry
of our Prime Minister who offered it openly and honestly
of a government that has prioritised closing the alarming gap in quality of life and longevity between Aboriginals and other Australians

this is gorgeous, would require some serious dedication to curlers though =/

i have been reading this article about the history of The Bob haircut, it's such a great story that i now wanna get one!

Men Who Smoke Prone to Impotence
05:14pm 10/01/2008
  Serena Gordon

SUNDAY, Dec. 30 (HealthDay News) -- If heart disease, stroke and certain cancers haven't been reason enough for men to quit smoking, consider this: The habit also increases the risk of erectile dysfunction.

...

A recent study of more than 8,000 Australian men between the ages of 16 and 59 found that those who smoked less than a pack a day had a 24 percent increased risk of erectile problems. And, as the number of cigarettes smoked went up, so, too, did the chances of erectile dysfunction. Those men who averaged more than 20 cigarettes a day increased their risk of erectile dysfunction by 39 percent, reported the study, published in the journal Tobacco Control.

damn him. he also has blocked images somewhere that has disabled them from one of my favourite fashion blogs, Style Bubble *sad panda*

itching itching ITCHING to study fashion, have been inspired these past two weeks and designed some lovely things. bought some lovely things too (it's amazing what you can find when you trawl eBay like a mad woman!)

1950's wiggle dress

paid a little more than I planned, but still not too much of a dent in the pocket =) besides, it's a little bit of fashion history isn't it? perhaps i can claim it on tax if i get into the course...hahaha. six days and nine hours until i know. to be perfectly honest, i know i screwed up the interview - it was almost Monty Python-esque:

Interviewer 1: (reviewing my application essay) I can see here that you have a strong knowledge of the international design industry.
Me: Yes.

Yes??? YES??? I am a moron.
i hope against reason that everyone else was even shittier than i was ~_~

the longer you abandon your journal the more daunting and lengthy the entry required becomes...
08:00pm 29/12/2007
  hello!

merry christmas/happy public holidays/*passes some champers and too much chocolate*

think last i left it, i was working from home - met my horrible deadline by working through the night and proceeded to the work xmas lunch, where i consumed about bottle of champagne and at least a another half a one of white wine - the later with former colleagues whose work xmas party happened to be the better decorated and more festive table opposite to ours...bit awkward for our directors i imagine

it was a stingier affair this year (Drummoyne lake, good food but an uneatable dessert) than the last (Circular Quay, Harbour views, excellent food) which was a bit disappointing, particularly considering we made them better profits than last year. i dunno, i think they are underestimating how much a gesture like a really nice meal at the end of the year means, when we've worked hard and our pay packets are below industry averages.

then, got sick, absolute mess and unable to work on the project haunting me over this xmas 'break' (now of course overdue for a draft =/). blah.

christmas on antibiotics amongst a sea of tissues. stayed with family few days: drank tea; over ate; made mum absolutely lose it (laughing) creating a 'Mii' caricature of my dad - only time in memory =); watched cheesy movies [Wedding Crashers = funny in a humour you share with you little brother, In her shoes = SATC on sedatives for middle-aged and comfortable, Starksy and Hutch = watchable for Snoop Dogg as a 70s pimp =)]...apparently flashed slight amount of boob to cousin? worse for him to be looking than for me to have an accidental tit slip i think. life lesson here is to test drive new dresses prior to wearing in front of pervy family members.

played Wii - i'm obsessed! and want one badly

christmas day was standard. yummy turkey, best potato salad, excellent cake. loved giving presents, didn't like receiving them. Kim likes and looks great in the things i bought her which makes me happy. aunt buying me surf style clothes in big sizes (she always does this?). uncle detailing best way to kill cats, horrifying my cat-loving sister. snarky remarks from other aunt about my sister and i only being skinny 'cause we are young. received see-through underwear from uncle, donated this to mum's local church quickly. caught up with cousins (teenage boys) who are growing up lovely, forced them to hug me goodbye, hahaha

and now, finished my antibiotics and back to work. although poor Rob is sick =(

also, these were delivered

shiny, shiny leather

handmade faux crocodile patent leather lace-up heels with covered platforms by VIVIENNE WESTWOOD(!)
excessive and gluttoness in shape, emphasised by their high gloss finish. slightly ugly, a little bit masculine, a bit fetish. padded soles for comfort. tiny imperfections that remind you an Italian craftsman has laboured on them. yum, yum ,yum, yum! shoe perfection
price was ridiculous, spending this much on shoes is a once-in-a-lifetime thing...*cough*
